The Thorn spectra M(n) (2 ^k ≤ n ≤ 2 ^k+1 − 1) induced from Ω(SU(n)/SO(n)) →BO is a wedge of suspensions of Mahowald’s X ^k spectra that is induced from ΩJ ₂ −1 S ² → Ω ² S ³ →BO, where J _i is the ith stage of the James construction. © 1992 American Mathematical Society.
