Abstract

Harmonic oscillation of a doubly clamped single-walled carbon nanotube rope is significantly damped by the resistive force of friction at intertube contacts and the energy transmission rate has been estimated to be lower than that on a metal wire excited at similar frequency and vibrating length by one order of magnitude. © 2010 the Owner Societies.
