Abstract

Bubble column Gas distributor Oxygen transfer Porous ceramic
Gas and liquid mass transfer in a bubble column with porous ceramic gas distributor was investigated. The porous ceramic disc of our self-made was used as a gas distributor to compare with commercial products made of sintered glasses. The volumetric gas-liquid mass transfer coefficient was determined by the dynamic method. We found that the volumetric mass transfer coefficient (k(L)a) measured from our discs is higher than that of commercial product, especially in the low gas flux region (Ug < 1 cm/sec). Experimental results showed that the volumetric mass transfer coefficient was significantly effective in pore size of the gas distributor. The k(L)a value decreased with increasing pore size of a distributor.
