Abstract
A family of epsilon -caprolactam (HL//5) and omega -dodecalactam (HL//1//1) copolymer was synthesized through the monomer casting technique using hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) as the initiator and sodium hydride (NaH) as the catalyst. Physical properties, such as thermal properties, shrinkage, water absorption and mechanical properties, were evaluated with respect to the HL//1//1 composition. Improvements of shrinkage, water absorption and impact strength were achieved, however, losses of the tensile strength, tensile modulus, flexural modulus and the thermal stability were observed.
