Abstract
This paper explores some of the design characteristics of explicit and implicit methods for parallel computers and suggests an approach for the hybrid method which incorporates both capabilities. The implicit experience is with developing a parallel version of FENRIS (Parallel Structural Dynamic Analysis) while the hybrid experience is with developing a new parallel prototype system at Georgia Tech. © 1992.
