Abstract

Optical bistability and multistability Optical steady-state behaviors Quantum interference Semiconductor quantum well
We analyze the optical steady-state behaviors based on intersubband transitions in a triple quantum well structure driven coherently by a probe laser field and two control laser fields embedded in a unidirectional cavity. It is shown that the optical bistability behavior can be observed and controlled efficiently through the frequency detuning of the probe field, the intensities of two control fields, the electronic cooperation parameter, and the Fano-type interference. More interestingly, with Fano-type interference, switch from optical bistability to optical multistability or vice versa can be also controlled by adjusting the relative phase between two coherent control fields. © 2015 Elsevier GmbH.
