Abstract

Raman scattering was applied to study the high-temperature phase transition (near 175°C) in KH 2 PO 4 . Drastic temperature-dependent changes were observed to take place in the normal modes of B 1 symmetry between 1000-3400 cm -1 . The disintegration of the dominant broad feature near 2500 cm -1 when temperature rises beyond 150°C suggests that the alteration of the hydrogen-bond network is closely connected with this high-temperature phase transition. © 1975.
