Abstract

A room temperature liquid crystal THz phase shifter was demonstrated. The phase shift was achieved by magnetically controlling the effective refractive index of LC layer. The magnetic field also helped to align the LC for a cell as thick as 1.5 mm. Measured results showed good agreement with theoretical predictions.
