Abstract
The screw dislocations near a cross crack are investigated. The stress field, stress intensity factor, image force, and strain energy of screw dislocations are derived by a conformal mapping approach. Also examined is the effect of a vertical crack on the mechanical properties of a material such as the stress intensity factor at a horizontal crack tip, the image force and strain energy of a screw dislocation, the dislocation emission criterion, etc. A cross crack is compared with surface crack, T?crack, internal crack, and semi?infinite crack.
