Abstract
High quality zinc oxide (ZnO) nanorods are synthesized using a seed-mediated sol-gel method. Systematic studies reveal that the use of nanosized ZnO seeds along with critical growth parameters facilitate the formation of ZnO nanorods with high aspect ratio and low oxygen-vacancy defect density, which might find potential applications in nanodevices. © 2005 Acta Materialia Inc.
