This Special Issue of Environmental and Public Health Management consists of 38 papers presented in the International Conference on Environmental and Public Health Management held at Hong Kong Baptist University during 12–14 March 2002.Environmental conservation, sustainable development and environmental health are among the top priority of most of the metropolises. The tremendous economic and industrial advancement enjoyed by these societies in the past few decades has also brought about many environmental tradeoffs. It is now clear that managing our natural resources well and living in harmony with nature are the keys to sustain continuous economic growth and technological advancement in the future. On the other hand, the health of this generation and generations to come greatly depends upon our ability to manage non-renewable and renewable resources. At an international level, there is an increasing emphasis on maintenance of a healthy environment, including protection from food risks and reducing pollution levels. The conference aimed to provide a forum for local and overseas experts in various areas of specialization to meet and discuss the issues of sustainable development, environmental health and risk management. More than 160 local and international experts coming from Australia, Germany, Japan, Malaysia, Pakistan, Taiwan, United Kingdom, mainland China and Hong Kong attended the conference.
