摘要
Candida albicans is an important fungal pathogen in humans. The interaction between C. albicans and its host is dynamic and complex. This pathogen exhibits multifaceted strategies for growth, proliferation, and survival within the host accompanied with mechanisms to escape from the host defense. The host triggers complex immune responses in response to C. albicans. This review outlines selected aspects in the current understanding of C. albicans pathogenesis and its interactions with the host, and presents several experimental tools developed in the postgenomic era to study these topics. © 2012.
