The reactions of screw superdislocations or micropipes (MP) in silicon carbide single crystals were studied. Synchrotron radiation phase sensitive radiography and computer simulation of the evolution of a random micropipes were used. The results show that the coalescence of micropipes with opposite-sign Burgers vectors can be obtained by their straightforward movement towards each other or by their revolution about each other. It was also found that the density of MPs would diminish during the crystal growth.
