Abstract
Photolysis of NaV(CO) 6 with 1-chloropenta-2,4-diene in tetrahydrofuran at 20°C produces (η 5 -C 5 H 7 )V(CO) 4 (1). Compound 1 reacts with an equimolar amount of R 3 P in pentane at 0°C and spontaneously produces (η 5 -C 5 H 7 )V(CO) 3 (PR 3 ) (PR 3 = PMe 3 (2), PMe 2 Ph (3)). Treatment of 2 with excess PMe 3 gives trans-(η 5 -C 5 H 7 )V(CO) 2 (PMe 3 ) 2 (4). The molecular structure of 3 has been determined by an X-ray diffraction study: orthorhombic P2 1 2 1 2 1 , a = 7.1519 (2) Å, b = 13.172 (4) Å, C = 17.479 (4) Å, Z = 4, V = 1646.7 Å 3 . © 1991 American Chemical Society.
