A study was conducted to develop two surfactant-free methods for the synthesis of small to ultrasmall Cu 2 O nanocubes and octahedra in aqueous solution at room temperature or 35 °C. The small nanocrystals were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns, and UV-vis absorption spectroscopy. Structural characterization of the small Cu 2 O nanocrystals were also performed.
