Abstract

Temperature-dependent photoluminescence (PL) was exploited to investigate the mechanism of luminescence of MCM (Mobil Composition of Matter)-41 and MCM-48 nanotubes. The PL intensity has a maximum around 40 K. Localization of the carriers involved in the radiative recombination was deduced from the PL decay profiles at various energies. A model based on competition between radiative recombination of localized carriers and nonradiative recombination is suggested to explain the temperature-dependence of PL intensity. © 2004 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
