This study describes the career development of a woman counselling psychologist who worked full-time for 10 years at a university counselling centre (UCC) in Taiwan. In-depth interviews were conducted, and the case study method was adopted to collect and analyse data. Themes emerging from data analysis include casting career anchors and committing to university counselling, finding balance between professional development and family, becoming proficient with counselling and overcoming challenges at work, promoting the quality of UCC services, and continuing to maintain passion and enhance professional counselling competence. Information from this case study can serve as reference for women counselling psychologists and other women professionals as they select career fields, create innovations to enhance service quality and professional competence, make adjustments to cope with work–family and family–work conflict, and strike a balance between family and work.
