Abstract
The effect of phosphorus, ranging from 0.005 to 0.16 wt%, on the core loss of electrical steels containing 0.5 wt% silicon has been investigated. The steels were continuously annealed at 700-850°C. It was found that the core loss and electrical resistivity of electrical steels increased with the phosphorus content. After continuous-annealing, the grain size of steels decreased with the increasing phosphorus content. It is suggested that phosphorus increased both the core loss and hysteresis loss of electrical steels mainly through the refining of grain size. © 1992.
