Abstract

The triplet formation ratio γ in a MEH-PPV LED is found to be not a constant, but a strong universal function of electric field. It is shown that γ is larger than 3 in the intermediate field region, and is reduced by more than 5 times as field further increases. The combined effect of phonon bottleneck and field dissociation of higher triplet exciton is proposed to explain these behaviors.
