The two-way shape memory effect (TWSME) of as-spun ribbons was reported. Fe-Pd with 30% of Pd shape memory ribbons were manufactured by the free jet melt spinning method. The rapid solidification process in the free jet melt-spinning method suppresses the presence of the bct martensite at room temperature. The disordered Fe-Pd shape memory alloy with around 30 at % Pd exhibits the fcc → fct thermoelastic martensitic transformation on cooling with a narrow thermal hystersis for polycrystals.
