Abstract
We study the very strong coupling effect in a semiconductor optical microcavity in which the exciton radius is dramatically modified due to the presence of strong photon-exciton coupling by means of nonlinear numerical optimization. To experimentally verify the features of very strong coupling and distinguish them from those of strong coupling, we propose two schemes and show that our proposals can provide unequivocal experimental proof of the existence of very strong coupling. © 2015 IOP Publishing Ltd and Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft.
