The formation/reduction behavior of various palladium oxides is elucidated through means of glucose oxidation on a palladium black electrode by using cyclic voltammetry. The kinetic parameters of glucose oxidation via the Pd(I) are also deduced from cylic voltammetric and potentiodynamic results. The Pd(I) and Pd(IV) are proposed as being responsible for glucose oxidation in the potential regions of the incipient and bulk hydrous oxide formation, respectively, which are validated from the comparison of cv results. © 1993.
