Aggregation of carbon nanotubes reduces quantum efficiency and the phenomenon is found to be related to photocurrent leakage through oxygenated lattices acting as low barrier intertube channels. This outcome is supported by calculation and optical excitation experiments. © the Owner Societies 2011.
