X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measurements confimed that the AgNi nanocrystalline particles prepared by a gas condensation method form solid solutions. This solution wasfoundto be stable up to 300°C. NiK edge absorption spectra of the AgNi nanocrystals show a distinct feature in the near edge region, in sharp contrast to bulk and nanocrystalline Ni. This feature was attributed to the alloy phase of AgNi. © 1997 Acta Metallurgica Inc.
