Abstract
This study reveals that the growth rate of colloidal CdSe nanocrystals negatively deviates from the prediction of the classic growth theory from thermodynamics as CdSe nanocrystals attain the magic closed-shell structure at around 1.8 nm. We have suggested that the negative deviation is the consequence of the chemical potential well generated from the closed-shell structure of nanocrystals. © 2009 American Chemical Society.
