Abstract

The stereochemical outcome of the 1,4-addition of organocopper reagents to (η-C ₅ H ₅ )Mo(CO) ₂ [η ³ -1-(E)- C ₃ H ₄ COCH=CHR] compounds has been elucidated; utilization of this reaction for synthesis of 2,3,4,5-tetrasubstituted tetrahydrofuran is demonstrated.
