Abstract
The maturation of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Generative AI) technology and the availability of services like Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT) have led many institutions to propose guidelines for applying Generative AI in education. Among these, numerous scholars have suggested that ChatGPT can serve as a learning companion for students, offering various application models. However, when integrating an emerging technology into teaching, educators should consider how to guide students in using ChatGPT tools from the perspectives of educational theories and instructional strategies. To this end, this study, through literature review and focus group methods, proposes 14 learning theories and explains how teachers can guide students to collaborate with ChatGPT in their learning. Finally, some key considerations for teachers when incorporating ChatGPT into teaching are presented.
