Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Brazil training method on basketball players' sport fitness and basic basketball skills by conducting an eightweek training program. The participants of this study were 15 male basketball players (with average age: 19.73±1.16 years, height: 179.87±8.29 cm, weight: 78.81± 17.20 kg) who play for the varsity team of Lan-Yang Institution of Technology in the 2008 season. The sport fitness and basketball skills of the participants were tested and recorded both before and after implementing the training program. In this study, t-test was used to compare the differences between the data collected from the two tests. The results showed that: 1. the sport fitness of male players who experienced an 8-week Brazil training method were significantly better than before (p<.05); 2. the basic basketball skills of male players who experienced the training were significantly better than before (p<.05). In conclusion, the sport fitness and basketball skills of male players were significantly improved after experiencing an 8-week Brazil training method, indicating that Brazil training method could effectively enhance the performance of sport fitness and basic basketball skills.
