Abstract
Dealing with the underlying problems of ethnicization in the development of museums in post-authoritarian Taiwan, this article first reviews some anthropological reflections on this subject, namely respect for indigenous points of view, politics of voice, community empowerment, and defense of cultural rights. But despite the high level of theoretical discourse, problems still exist. We think that it’s necessary to reassess the historical impact of the traditionalist paradigm inherited from the authoritarian era, and to carry out a critique of identity politics through a focus on two aspects: cultural representation and exhibitionary discipline. Finally, we propose some ideas, from an anthropological perspective, for a repositioning of the concept of ＂human/population＂ in museums.
