Abstract
Prof. Qiao Jian, among all the anthropologists in China, has the richest experience in field study and contact with the most various types of ethnic cultures. His research mainly includes the following five fields: the study of nationalities in South Island of Taiwan, the study of minorities in China Mainland, Chinese traditional cultural study, the study of the base and marginalized society in traditional China, and the study on Navajo tradition and the cultural connection between American Indians and Peoples of Asia. Prof. Qiao Jian has been admired and respected by all his fellows for his wide cultural horizon and in-depth understanding and interpretation of social culture and ethnic groups, which has enlightened the later scholars.
