Abstract
To conclude 600-year development of Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Ming Dynasties, genealogical differentiation is an important method of the time.Speaking of Tang Chun-I (1909-1978)’s research result, some interpret his points in “two-circle statement” or “three-genealogy statement”. But in this thesis, basing on his important view of key issue and Chap. 19 in “Principles of Chinese philosophy—The Origins and Development of Cultivation”, I will prove his assertion that Neo-Confucianism is “one-genealogy statement” which progressively manifests “the metaphysical substance of mind”.In this thesis, I will also discuss several scholars’ value and significance in this active development. At the same time, I will expound on Tang Chun-I’s thinking that all doctrines have no relative superiority or inferiority but have a common result and 3-angle method. In conclusion, Mr. Tang’s viewpoint is “one genealogy and 3-angle method”.
