Abstract
The local writing of A Sheng’s prose has always been a unique scenery in Taiwanese literature. For 40 years, he has been walking on the lyrical way back to his hometown. A Sheng, who moved from Tainan Xinying to Neutral, often looked back to the roots of the local environment, making his prose condensed the weight of history, and added a sense of vicissitudes to the past. His journey to return to his childhood "original scenery" through the pen of history is also a journey that allows us to review the "past" and realize the great changes of "now".
Group memory is often realized through personal memory. The unique feature of his new work "Cape Acacia Rain" lies in the author’s ingenuity beyond the noisy and chaotic modern social context to show the poetic style of the life of the previous generation It records a civilization that is about to disappear. This article intends to explore the meaning of A Sheng’s local writing through the discussion of A Sheng’s "Acacia Rain", from which to see the survival picture, cultural changes and human feelings of Taiwan’s rural areas.
