Abstract
The history of sport psychology in Taiwan could be traced back to the 1980s. The purpose of this paper was to provide a brief overview of the development of sport psychology in Taiwan from the 1990s to the 2010s. Specifically, this paper begins with the introduction of key contributors to the sport psychology development in Taiwan, and enumerates the publication of textbook, the establishment of the Society for Sport and Exercise Psychology of Taiwan (SSEPT), the cooperation with international society, major research issues, and practical services. For future perspectives, we provided suggestions for the certification system of SSEPT, the nurturing and career assistance of young faculty, and the evaluation of needs for government and society. Obviously, the movement of research and practical work in sport and exercise psychology heavily relies on fellows of SSETP. We expect that the development of sport psychology in Taiwan will be keeping growing in the next 30 years under the great effort of sport psychology researchers and practitioners.
