Abstract
PURPOSE: An LCD device is provided to change optical transmittance and optical reflectivity of a liquid crystal by an electric field generated in parallel to one-sided substrate between a pixel electrode and an opposite electrode, thereby realizing satisfactory visual angular characteristics and the high-definition LCD.CONSTITUTION: A polarizer(POL2), a black matrix(BM), a color filter(FIL), a passivation film(OC), and an alignment layer(ORI2) are disposed on one(SUB2) of two transparent glass substrates(SUB1,SUB2). On the other substrate(SUB1), a polarizer(POL1), an alignment layer(ORI1), a drain electrode, a pixel electrode(PX), an opposite electrode(CT), a line, and a TFT are disposed. Liquid crystals(LC) are aligned by the alignment layers(ORI1,ORI2) in parallel to a surface of the substrate(SUB1). An initial alignment(RDR) of the liquid crystals(LC) are almost identical with a polarized axis(MAX1) of the polarizer(POL1). A polarized axis(MAX2) of the other polarizer(POL2) is crossed with the polarized axis(MAX1) at a right angle.
