Abstract
The present invention provides a method of controlling a neural stimulator. The neural stimulator is of the type having a plurality of electrodes suitable to stimulate neural tissue. The method of controlling the neural stimulator includes determining a safe level for the plurality of electrodes, and receiving input for neural stimulation. Then, a sum of stimulation on the plurality of electrodes based on said input for neural stimulation is calculated. The stimulation on each of said plurality of electrodes is then reduced by the amount necessary to not to exceed said safe level for the plurality of electrodes.
