Abstract
The present invention discloses a five axis flank milling system for machining curved surface and a tool-path planning method thereof. In summary, the tool-path planning method of the present invention is utilized to generate a tool-path for a cutting tool to remove the material from the work-piece along the tool-path previously described. The tool-path planning method of the present invention comprises a reciprocating tool-path planning method (M1) and a multi-tool-path planning method (M2). By eliminating the ''forward only'' limitation of the traditional tool-path planning method, the present invention is capable of moving the cutting tool toward the opposite direction so as to produce a machined curved surface of a smaller error. Furthermore, the multi-tool-path planning method (M2) is capable of minimizing the machining error by applying various tool-paths on the work-piece progressively for multiple times, wherein each of the tool-paths is generated in accordance with the same surface to be machined.
