Abstract

Current of a three-phase multilevel inverter is controlled. The control is suitable for division-summation (D-Σ) yet uses integration to replace the two steps of division and summation. A common D-Σ characteristic equation is obtained for all areas. Inductance change is considered in the characteristic equation. Current source is used to control the inverter. Therefore, the current of the inverter can be traced to sinusoidal reference current even when the inductance change becomes big. The method for modularization is to unify pulse widths of sub-modules, while the method for capacitor voltage balance uses a sorting-based balancing algorithm. The control directly obtains a rule of the change on each conducting module of bridge leg. It does not need complex sector judgments and table look-ups. Thus, the amount of computation as well as data stored for a processor can be relatively reduced.
