Abstract

The present invention discloses a synchronization and detection method capable of withstanding noises and waveform distortion in a communication system and a correlator thereof. The invented method comprises: performing several sampling on the Preamble and the Synchronization Word Field in an Access Code, in which each sampling point is given a different weighing value according to its reliability; using a correlator to obtain an approximation value; using the approximation value as a time point in activating timing operation of a timer when the approximation value exceeds an initial threshold value; and obtaining an optimum time synchronization point when the timing of the timer reaches a maximum time point among the approximation values obtained by the correlator within a given period of observation time, in order to achieve Bit Synchronization and Frame Synchronization in the system. Furthermore, the obtained optimum time synchronization point can be used as a reference point for performing bit detection. The present invention can increase the capability in withstanding noises and waveform distortion, thereby avoiding the occurrence of conventional synchronization-failure or non-synchronization.
