Abstract
This invention discloses a filter bank multicarrier communication system that adopts the discrete Hartley transform with only real arithmetic operations for multicarrier modulation/demodulation, instead of the conventional discrete Fourier transform based approach with complex arithmetic operations, to reduce the implementation complexity or to enhance the system performance. The system can use two kinds of prototype filters orthogonal or nearly orthogonal each other, one for processing data symbols on even-numbered subcarriers and the other for processing those on odd-numbered subcarriers, to lessen intercarrier interference and intersymbol interference.
