Abstract
The present invention provides a polarized high order mode electromagnetic wave coupler and the coupling method thereof. An electromagnetic wave is symmetrically divided into two electromagnetic waves having the same amplitude and opposite phases by utilizing a bypassing device. The two electromagnetic waves are then transmitted into a waveguide with a cylindrical main body through waveguide structures, causing the electromagnetic waves to be transformed into linearly polarized high order mode in the main body of the waveguide or to further be polarized into a circular polarization wave in a polarization stage. The coupling method of the present invention includes a bypassing step, a mode transformation step, and an optional polarization step. A TE21 coupler is simulated, manufactured, and tested, and the test result is identical to the computer simulation. The coupler and its coupling method are of high transformation efficiency, high mode purity, high bandwidth, polarity control, and easy processing.
