Abstract
The present invention relates to a method for detecting an event of falling, which employs three characteristic values of time interval by which a person falls, position of centroid, and vertical projection height in three different motion modes wherein in the time interval of falling, the changing rate of position of centroid of a person and the changing rate of vertical projection height are detected. When the falling event is detected, a monitoring device is used to inform a family member at a remote site to carry out immediate medical care to reduce the damage. The present invention can be applied in an intelligent home monitoring.
