Abstract
A Q-switched laser system is disclosed. The laser system employs an electro-optic quasi-phase matched crystal as a laser Q-switch to apply specific modulated electric field to the quasi-phase-matched crystal within a polarization dependent resonator, thereby switching the laser polarization between high-loss and low-loss laser modes to achieve Q-switch. Comparing with traditional electro-optic Q-switched laser system the laser system provides a low-voltage and fast laser Q-switching. An electro-optic quasi-phase-matched Q-switched wavelength conversion and tunable laser system is also disclosed. The laser system couples a quasi-phase-matched crystal as a laser electro-optic Q-switch and nonlinear wavelength converter to convert wavelength efficiently within a polarization dependent resonator by Q-switched laser and lower the requirements to the overall laser pump power.
