Abstract
This project aims to enrich the teaching experience with technology assistance. Adopting French philosopher Bernard Stiegler’s organology as its research method, this project investigates how the dynamic relationship of co-evolution between the brains ’s neurological structure and the technical milieu plays out in the field of higher education. More specifically, it designs the class discussion model on the basis of Stiegler’s concept of hermeneutical web in the hope of inventing a dialogical space—managed by a small intellectual community composed of students engaging in discussion—where the loop of feedback traces the diachronic progression in conceptual development, highlighting both the singularity of each practitioner and the transductive relation between practitioners and the digital platform, a model resolutely different from today’s social network platforms. It is also worth noting that data analysis, such as word cloud data visualization, is not absent in the hermeneutical web, only that it is no longer forced to comply with the capitalist logic and now repurposed to assist the practitioners of the hermeneutical web, allowing discussion to branch out into different directions according to theme, interest, or other categories. In other words, data analysis is no longer in the service of behavior modulation as in today’s automatic society and transforms itself into a means for dis-automatization as well as a digital basis for reclaiming the capacity for critical thinking and deep attention.
