This project aims to leverage the resources of EMBA and MBA students to develop local teaching cases on the one hand, and to improve the management skills and practical knowledge of techno-MBA students on the other. In the past two decades, many colleges and universities in Taiwan have established EMBA or MBA programs. These part-time students usually have rich industry experiences and well-connected resources. This project attempts to tap into these resources to design a course combined with theory and practice. Drawing on action research method, this project will choose a compulsory course, “Innovation and Technology Strategy” at Institute of Technology Management, National Tsing Hua University as the exemplary field for analysis and practice. The preliminary curriculum design is divided into two parts. The first part is taught by the course instructor on management theory with several Harvard teaching cases for group discussion and debate. The second part is designed to invite EMBA or MBA students to share relevant practical experience, in order to link theory and practice, and to form a research team with techno-MBA students to develop local teaching cases. The assessment of this project adheres to the spirit of triangulation. During the research process, the project investigator will observe and record the interaction between techno-MBA students and EMBA or MBA students. By the mid-term and near the end of the project, both qualitative and quantitative methods will be carried out to examine whether such course design achieves the purpose of this project. If the results are promising, this curriculum design might be extended to the undergraduate course “Management” in the near future.
