Abstract
Software Engineering is a key topic in computing education and at the core of the computer science industry. Presently, many Taiwan's higher education institutions offer a multicourse sequence to teach students the theoretical concepts of software development, but the relevance of these courses within Computer Science departments may not always be obvious. Typically, in these courses, students practice the principles of requirements analysis, system analysis, system design, project management, development methodology, and effective teamwork through some case studies or small-to-medium software projects. In fact, the increasing demand for software engineers cannot completely be fulfilled by university education due to limited capacities. From last year's project, it can be found that students were motivated to learn through software competitions and free open-source software tools to enhance their learning outcomes in software engineering. But we have found that more efficient methods or training are needed to improve students’ software engineering abilities. Peronal software proess (PSP) was developed to address the needs for process improvement in small project teams. PSP usually applied proven quality principles to the individual work of software developers and forms a basis for evaluating and improving a person's software development abilities. in this project. we will incorporating both competitive learning strategy and personal software process into software engineering education. Based on the use of competitive learning strategy, we plan to introdue and outline a process for managing and producing high quality software, under non-reducing mathematical and statistical rigor of the original PSP, but maintaining a solid base of disciplined practices and an overriding quality philosophy. We wish to help students organize and plan their work, track their performance, manage software quality, and analyze and improve their personal process. PSP would help students to round out their perspective that all the factors involved in producing a quality software are essential. Our project also plan to use the model of Extending the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) to identify the key decision factors influencing student's interest in learning software engineering.
