Abstract
The national biotechnology industry is the key industry of national development, whereas life science is an essential industry talent source. Although students’ enrollments in life science are gradually decreasing, students who require to retake physical biology classes increase because knowledge and subfields in life science are dispersed. Students of life science are lack learning motivation due to inefficient acquisition of scientific knowledge. This project, therefore, aims to help the student efficiently acquire scientific knowledge through emerging technologies. Also, in teaching life science, traditional picture-based teaching methods may lead to a blind spot of understanding due to insufficient presentation of cell profile structure and functions. With the mature of online learning, three-dimensional modeling, and image processing technology, this project aims to develop and utilize a set of AR-materials in cell biology Massive Open Online Course to improve picture-based teaching limitations. We hope that students bring about innovative learning experiences through the self-manipulation of the MOOC AR module. We hope that our AR module inspires student curiosity, learning motivation, self-regulation, and interaction by more authentic learning materials. Through the knowledge map based on artificial intelligence analysis system built on the NTHU MOOCs platform, the visual display helps learners to know the learning effect in real-time. Therefore, students can build up biology foundations and leverage knowledge without the boundary of time and space.
