Abstract
Nowadays, lean production, also known as Toyota Production System (TPS) has been widely applied in different industries to increase productivity and quality as well as decrease cost and lead time. It enhances an enterprise’s international competitiveness. To suit the customer demands, TPS provides a way for the companies to eliminate non-value-added wastes by reducing labor costs, equipment, time and space. TPS investigates the time line from the point an order placed by customers until the payment is received. TPS also shortens the time for delivering value to customers by removing the non-value-added wastes and increasing the efficiency. In globalization, world-wide competition increases dramatically. To strengthen operation strategies and human resource management for Taiwanese enterprises, this project aims to bring enterprise thinking and business model to class. Students could realize the practice of lean production through Lean Production Laboratory and implementation training. They can also attend industry-university collaboration research project to understand the expectation from industry. Through the practice at Lean Production Laboratory, students can integrate the theory and application of lean production and R&D, to reduce the gap between learning in university and practice in industry.
