Abstract
This study created a highly interactive online learning environment via a five-step model by integrating Live streaming technology (YouTube), an interactive classroom system (Slido), and social network sites (Facebook/Instagram). This hybrid model includes High presence live lectures, Real-time surveys and rapid responses, Filtering crowdsourcing questions and best question selection, Extending learning via summarizing and reflection, and Knowledge sharing on social network sites. Data from pre-/posttests, online questionnaires, log data, and qualitative responses indicated: (1) A significant increase in learning gains and a better increase of high school students than the increase of undergraduate students, (2) A significant increase in agentic, behavior, cognitive, and emotional engagement and critical thinking, but no significant difference in social engagement compared to the last run of this course, (3) more than 40% students attempt to do the final collaborative project, (4) students felt shy and embarrassed in knowledge sharing in social network sites in the beginning, but they gradually develop a sense of achievement and joy. This model could be used as a reference for large-scale live streaming interactive courses in post-pandemic higher education.
