Abstract
The course Introduction to Chinese Culture is a course offered to foreign students and belongs to the cultural section of the advanced Chinese academic program. The contents of this course are different to that of the more general course Chinese Daily Life and Culture and the more specialized course offered to local students Chinese Cultural History. Thus, this course has been designed to use examples of the arts and crafts of China, such as Han dynasty murals, the Song dynasty painting Along the River During the Qingming Festival, the terracotta army and blue and white porcelain, etc. So as to allow students to see concrete examples of some of the distinguishing features of Chinese culture, as well as to appreciate its beauty. Therefore, this research plan’s objectives lie in investigating the course design and evaluating the learning results of the course Introduction to Chinese Culture.
