Introduction: This narrative review examined recent advancements in sports science, focusing

on the integration of genetics and neuroimaging to enhance sports training and performance. It

highlighted the critical role of multimodal neuro/bioinformatics in athlete profiling, talent

identification, and training optimization. Methods: The review discussed key factors influencing

athletic performance, the limitations of genetic data for real-world predictions, and the importance

of anthropometric variables, psychophysiological factors, and functional brain network

connectivity in dynamic sports contexts. Results and Conclusion: It advocated for the development

of multimodal brain imaging genomic maps and the use of AI and machine learning to analyze

large-scale, long-term data, aiming to improve athlete selection, extend careers, and maintain

competitive performance.
